Where’s The Beef

Tomorrow I’ll be back in the studio for a day of vocals. Mostly adding harmonies and background vocals to the last five songs we recorded earlier this month. I actually think Johnny Sangster (producer) may have been the first person to push me to sing high and low harmonies with myself in the studio, probably about ten years ago. I declined at first, insisting I couldn’t sing “that high” or “that low” and he’s like “do it anyway and let’s just see what happens.” and wouldn’t ya know, it sounded pretty good. So the only difference tomorrow will be that even when I’m like, 80% certain I can’t sing that high or that low, I’ll just do it anyway. Sometimes it sounds bad, but a lot of the time, we get the good stuff that beefs up and rounds out the song. I’m also trying to talk my beagle, Forest, into singing some harmonies tomorrow too, fingers crossed.
