Black Light Sound Box

Three More Studio Days in the Bag

I love recording music. I love working in the studio. I love the vocal booth; all the noise in my headphones, I can close my eyes and sing and everything is just feeling. It reminds me of when I was in the 8th grade, I took a cardboard box and covered the inside of it with glow in the dark stars and neon paint and equipped it with a black light. I’d often lay on my bedroom floor, lights off, headphones on, my head in the black light box and listen to Jimi Hendrix or The Doors, or Sheryl Crow’s 2nd album (self titled, it was pretty edgy to 13 yr old me). Except now, in the vocal booth, I get to hear my voice coming through. My words, my songs, the band playing with me.

This past week, the six of us (me, Mark Pickerel, Johnny Sangster, Andy Stoller, Daniel Walker, and my dog, Forest) got the bulk of 5 more songs recorded, which means I’ve got 10 songs to work with! The next steps to come are overdubs and mixing.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed every step of the way and feeling gratitude in my heart as I continue to raise funds to finish this album. I will also continue to share the process and progress with y’all.

Check out new photos from the studio, taken by my good friend and fantastic photographer, Brian Kasnyik!
